I was so excited to sit down with Dr. Maria O’Brien of Millennium Med recently to discuss EMSCULPT. If you’ve been on Instagram at all recently you have probably seen so many people doing this procedure which is why I was so interested. As someone who works out moderately (2-3 times a week, but low intensity) I have not been able to achieve a toned tummy (but to be honest I haven’t tried that hard). But EMSCULPT looked so promising. I loved that I was seeing all of my favorite Instagram fitness folks using EMSCULPT to help them achieve that tight and toned look.
So, what is EMSCULPT?
EMSCULPT is the first and only procedure to help both women and men build muscle and sculpt their body. It can be used on the abdomen which was of most interest to me. But in addition, EMSCULPT created the first non-invasive option for toning the buttocks toning procedure which is fascinating!
I wanted to understand how effective the procedure was and if it was worth the investment. What I found really interesting is the science behind EMSCULPT. It has been extensively tested and the efficacy and safety have been proven in seven different studies by the most reputable scientific methods (MRI, CT, US, and Histology).
We ran through some common questions in the video below.
How does it work?
The non-invasive procedure induces powerful muscle contractions not achievable through voluntary contractions. When exposed to strong contractions, the muscle tissue is forced to adapt to such extreme condition. It responds with a deep remodeling of its inner structure that results in muscle building and sculpting your body.
What Is The Treatment Time?
30 minute treatment with minimum of 4 sessions scheduled 2-3 days apart.
What Does It Feel Like?
The EMSCULPT procedure feels like an intensive workout. You can lay down and relax during the treatment.
Is There Any Downtime? Any Pre/Post Treatment Preparation?
I love that the doctor shared with me that the EMSCULPT treatment is non-invasive and requires no recovery time or any pre/post treatment preparation.
How Fast Will I See Results?
You begin to feel tangible results right after the treatment. Positive results are usually reported two to four weeks after the last session and continue to improve for several weeks following the treatments.
Who is EMSCULPT best suited for?
In my research and my discussions with the doctor EMSCULPT really is best suited to fitter bodies; those that work out, with little fat to lose. The doctor and I discussed other non-invasive body shaping therapies like Ultrashape and Venus but these treatments address fat and skin. But a good rule of thumb is when someone has less than an inch of pinchable fat, or wants to improve the tone and shape of their stomach area (or tone and lift their buttocks) EMSCULPT is a perfect modality. According to Dr. O’Brien anyone can benefit from the EMSCULPT procedure. It can help strengthen their abdominal muscles, and will help them feel stronger in their core when exercising and performing normal activities. Someone who is moderately fit and trimmer in the abdomen area will see more toning, however, than someone who has more fat in the area. Makes sense!
EMSCULPT works best for those:
- Seeking improvement in MUSCLE
- Who are not candidates for current body-shaping procedures
- Patients looking for non-invasive alternatives to butt lifts and bat wings
- Busy people who may not have time for long treatment cycles and lots of treatments/visits
It’s always best to have any treatment done under the care of a medical doctor. Dr. Maria O’Brien is a board-certified doctor practicing in Rocky Hill, CT. Her practice can offer packages for EMSCULPT for abdominal toning or buttock lifting. The practice also offers medically supervised weight loss programs, other cosmetic procedures such as PRP and peels and botox and fillers. Their services are listed on their website. They also offer free consultations and all consultations are done by the doctor herself. To consult with the practice about EMSCULPT or any other procedure feel free to contact them and visit them on Instagram to stay posted for current specials..
Results and patient experience may vary. As with any medical procedure, ask your doctor if the procedure is right for you.
Dr. O’Brien shares how Emsculpt is a minimal commitment; with results 4-6 weeks later. |
