My history

More science than you care to know (but promise its helpful)

Then there is this complication, each nostril opens into its own nasal cavity, which does not connect with the other directly. They are two separate organs. That is why you can often feel blocked on one side and not the other.

Ina addition, the nose’s hidden inner anatomy is complicated and constantly changing. It’s lined with venous tissue. Infection or allergies amplify the swelling, so much so that the nasal passages become completely blocked. This swelling, not mucus, is the primary cause of a stuffy nose, which is why blowing (or drying it up) never quite fixes congestion entirely. You can blow your nose but you’re not resolving the underlying issue – the swollen tissue. Gently blowing your nose works fine for any mucus that may be adding to the stuffiness. But decongestants such as Sudafed and Afrin work by causing blood vessels in the nose to shrink, opening the nasal passages for temporary relief.

In the spirit of self-care, this is one of the most important ways you can listen to your body and practice good self-care …Whenever you feel the slightest hint of a cold, sore throat or like you might be coming down with something, it’s key to act ASAP.

You can do several things – the first thing I’d suggest is slowing down, taking it easy, cancelling plans if you have a busy day or evening and definitely cancelling plans to exercise. I’d then get an early night because sleep is pivotal in supporting your immune system.
